The Good Pitch Receives The FilmAid Community Leadership Award

The film industry and humanitarian community gathered last night to support FilmAid’s critical work in the Horn of Africa and honour the achievements of those working in the film community.

We are proud to announce that The FilmAid Community Leadership Award was presented to The Good Pitch, our collaboration with Sundance Institute Documentary Film Program.

This is a wonderful accolade to cap a year in which Good Pitch has matured in its support for documentary filmmakers; forging relationships with NGOs, foundations, philanthropists, brands and media who wish to aid them. In 2011 we produced three flagship Good Pitch events in New York, San Francisco and Europe in May, September and October respectively and the newly launched satellite model Good Pitch² hosted in Johannesburg.

In the process we’ve supported over 30 wonderful films and look forward to working with more powerful projects in 2012. The next Good Pitch² will take place as part of the Movies that Matter festival at The Hague on March 27th 2012.

FilmAid International harnesses the power of film to provide information where it is needed and inspire hope where it is lacking. Since 1999, FilmAid has worked globally to aid those suffering the effects of war, poverty, displacement and disaster, but this year the
focus is on the planet’s most urgent humanitarian crisis: the drought and famine in the Horn of Africa.
