Alive Day
Director: Tom Eldridge
Synopsis
A feature documentary following young US veterans, injured in Iraq, as they take their first steps out of military care and down the Grand Canyon.
Given a brief discharge from hospital, 12 severely injured American soldiers from the war in Iraq, join a white water rafting trip down the Grand Canyon. Visually stunning, this is a powerful and purposefully apolitical film. Each soldier tells a compelling story, revealing how warfare and its survivors has changed over the years, the reality of the war in Iraq and the uncertainties they now face back in the U.S.

According to the filmmakers
”I came to the Foundation with part of a film and with their help have managed to find the right people to put it together. I’m now working on projects I would not have been able to previously without their help.
I came to the subject of injured veterans from a sideways angle, I do not feel in the position to be able to judge them and hope that the film reflects this, letting the viewer make up their own mind.
