The Good Pitch is coming to Europe on October 25th and we are calling out to European filmmakers working on social and environmental justice film projects to apply.

WHAT IS THE GOOD PITCH?

The Good Pitch is a project of the Channel 4 BRITDOC Foundation in partnership with the Sundance Institute Documentary Film Program. It is a live event bringing together specially selected foundations, NGOs, social entrepreneurs, broadcasters and other media people to expand the resources aimed at maximising the impact of social-issue documentary.

Since the first Good Pitch in Oxford in 2008, over 60 films have pitched and 700 organisations have attended an event in London, Oxford, New York, Washington DC, Toronto or San Francisco. In this time over $2m has been leveraged in funding for documentary projects and their outreach campaigns.

At the Good Pitch Europe 2011, eight European filmmaking teams will pitch their project and its associated outreach campaign with the aim of creating a unique coalition around each film to accelerate its impact and influence.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

We are looking for documentary film projects which tackle important global and national issues and enhance our understanding of the world. We also want to see that you have thought about what you hope to achieve with your film through an associated outreach campaign. Your campaign can take any form, whether seeking to promote public engagement and/or policy change, or engaging with the issues raised in new and interesting ways.

We are looking for projects at any stage from early production to completion, provided projects have not received a major festival screening; rough cut stage is ideal. The call is open to projects looking for completion funding, outreach funding, campaigning networks or a combination of these.

There is a £25 administration charge for applying to take part in the Good Pitch Europe 2011

The deadline for submissions is 12pm UK time (11am GMT) on Friday May 27th 2011, and all trailers must be uploaded by this date for applications to be considered. The final selection of projects will be announced by July 1st 2011

If selected, film pitch teams must be available to be in London from July 1-3 for part 1 of the Campaign Development Workshop and then from October 22nd-26th inclusive for part 2 of the Workshop, the pitch day itself as well as follow-up meetings.
