Are you an aspiring documentary filmmaker who wants to develop their career in the film industry? Do you already have a short documentary or other published visual work under your belt? Are you looking to make a career in documentary features?

BRITDOC is looking for up to three UK-based emerging filmmakers / artists. In this inaugural 10 month programme we will be supporting filmmakers to reach the next stage of their careers through deepening their industry knowledge, building relationships with key industry contacts and offering project specific support where appropriate.

Successful filmmakers will receive:
  • Mentorship from an experienced BRITDOC film team.
  • One-to-one meetings with industry figures in the documentary landscape.
  • Complimentary delegation package; joining the BRITDOC team at Good Pitch Europe 2017 in Copenhagen on 24th March for the right candidate plus other documentary events throughout the year.
  • All expenses will be paid to participants, including support for travel and additional costs for those based outside of the Greater London area.
Eligibility Criteria:

We are looking for filmmakers/artists who have either not made a feature yet, or have made one feature but are looking to build a sustainable career in documentary features.

  • Completed and published content: this could include but is not limited to; short or feature (fiction or nonfiction), advertising, television content, experimental cinema.
  • Currently in development/in production of a documentary feature
  • The intention of developing a career in feature length documentary
  • UK resident
  • While BRITDOC is based in London, this is a UK-wide scheme and we encourage filmmakers to apply from all over the UK.
